Yes. Diabetes can lead to vision loss or even blindness. However it is possible that you may not have any symptoms.
How should I safeguard my eyes?
- Get a dilated eye exam by an eye doctor yearly
- Strive to keep your blood sugar under control
- Bring your blood pressure down
- Contact an eye doctor if you experience any of the following:Blurry vision, you feel pressure in your eyes, one or both eyes hurt, expereince trouble when reading, you see double or are unable to see things in the sides as you used to.

People with diabetes are twice as likely to develop high blood pressure than the people without it. Untreated high blood pressure can lead to heart disease and stroke.
What should I do to have a healthy heart?
- Lose wieight if you are overweight
- Become more physically involved
- Have your high blood pressure checked at each health care provider visit
