Born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Kevan L. Turman has planted his roots on the east coast. Having attended Philadelphia Public Schools until he was college age, Mr. Turman decided to venture slightly outside of the city to attend Lincoln University in 1997. While at Lincoln University he studied English Education and was involved in various activities, such as the Student Leader Network, Class of 2001 Officer, Student Government Association, and Resident Advisor, to name a few. Mr. Turman participated in the Thurgood Marshall Scholarship Fund Internship at then MBNA, now Bank of America, the summer prior to graduating.
Upon graduation, Mr. Turman returned to MBNA to serve as a PGA Tour Coordinator and Management Development Program Participant, respectively. Though the corporate world proved to be one of great knowledge and experience, it was Mr. Turman’s vision to return to his Alma Mater and serve as the Lincoln Man he was groomed to be while still a student. In November 2003 he returned to serve as Tour Coordinator in the Admissions department. Though he was very delighted at his presence on the campus, he knew that he would be better able to serve students with a more hands on position, such as the one he filled in May 2004 as Coordinator of Student Life and Development.
As fate would have it, Mr. Turman was provided the opportunity to travel to Ghana, West Africa. However in order to do so, he would have to leave Lincoln University. He knew this was a once in a lifetime opportunity, and though he wasn’t sure what he would do for employment when he returned, faith became his best option. Thus he stepped out and traveled to Ghana for a life changing experience. Upon his return, Mr. Turman served as a Language Arts and Social Science Teacher. Again, his heart yearned for Lincoln University’s roots, and in February 2006 he made his final return as the Director of Alumni Relations.
To many it would seem as though Mr. Turman has served in many positions in a relatively short amount of time, but to those who see with their souls, it is recognized that he had to serve in these positions to become the man that he is today. He had to touch various aspects of the employment world to gain knowledge and experience that would enable him to do the exemplary job that he is now doing in Alumni Relations.
During all this time and relocation, Mr. Turman progressed from a man to a husband and father. Kalisha and Kevan Turman have just recently celebrated two years of marriage and six months as a family, with their breathtaking son, Isaiah Charles Alexander Turman.
